It is one of the fastest growing plants and was one of the first plants to be made into usable fiber many thousands of years ago. Nowadays it is used to make many products including rope, clothes, food, paper, textiles, plastics, insulation and biofuel. Its seeds (also referred to as hearts) are consumed to improve digestion and metabolism, and are also cold pressed in order to obtain an oil that is used in health and wellness circles. Hemp essential oil is dark green in colour. It also boasts many benefits for skincare as it acts as a rich moisturizer and alleviates irritation.
