Pigment Antioxidants

Pigment Antioxidants

You may have noticed that the colours of our products vary depending on the range? For example, our Nordic Boost Hydrating Serum is a moss green, while our Purist Unscented Body Lotion is a lighter, olive green. The different colours are not just for aesthetics - they actually represent the plant ingredients found inside the products. Natural pigment antioxidants are responsible for that colour and are found in most of the plant extracts and oils we use and are one of the reasons our products are so effective. Think of skincare the same way you think of eating a lot of colour for healthy nourishment.
Some of our favourites are:
Chlorophyll - Gives plants their green color and helps them to convert sunlight into food. Chlorophyll has a number of benefits for the skin, including the ability to detoxify and heal the skin. It is also an antioxidant, which means it can help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.
Beta-carotene - A type of carotenoid, which is a pigment found in plants. When applied topically, it turns into retinol and has the same effects as the synthetic version. It is a powerful antioxidant, meaning it can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can cause cellular damage, and they're one of the main contributors to aging skin. When applied topically, it can help to protect the skin from environmental damage and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can also help to even out the skin tone and give the skin a healthy-looking glow.
Anthocyanins - These pigments are what give plants their red, purple, and blue colors. Studies have shown that anthocyanins can help to protect the skin from damage caused by UV radiation, pollution, and other environmental stressors. They can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, anthocyanins can help to improve skin tone and texture.

Colorful antioxidants are beneficial for natural skin care. They help to protect the skin from damage, and they can also improve the appearance of the skin which is why we choose unrefined versions of our raw materials. We want to maintain optimal antioxidant levels in everything we use to nourish your skin as much as possible.
